RokMicroNews

RokMicroNews is perfect for displaying your content. Your content (plus auto loaded image) are displayed adjacent to your article titles and the hover or click of these titles triggers a javascript transition to another article. Perfect for showcasing news items in a small, but structured spaced.

How To Add Articles To RokMicroNews Section 1 & 2

Every article that is displayed in RokMicroNews (either Section 1 or Section 2) has to be assigned to Section 1 category or Section 2 Category and has to have Excerpt.
Excerpt is mandatory as it’s the text that’s displayed next to image.
Each of sections are displaying 3 latest posts from their section. If you are writing a new post and you would like it to appear in the RokMicroNews you just need to add an excerpt to that post and assign it to specific category that responsible for displaying posts in RokMicroNews.

Adding thumbnail to the article shown in RokMicroNews

To add the thumbnail to the post that you wish to be displayed in RokMicroNews you have to add a Custom Field in the table below postedit box. From the list please choose ‘microthumb’ and fill the field under Value with your path to image ie. http://your-site.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/07/micro2.jpg

Please remember that for best displaying thumbnail shouldn’t be bigger than 120px x 105px
To check path to an image please go to the Media page in your administration dashboard, click Edit under the image you wish to use, and copy the path from the File URL field.

Changing title of the sections

Changing title of sections (Section 1 & Section 2) is as simple as changing theirs name in category editor.

Changing color under the title of sections

You can change the color from the SolarSentinel Settings page in your administrator dashboard.

How to remove one or both of RokMicroNews sections

Just go to the SolarSentinel Settings page in admin dashboard and next to the Section 1 Category or Section 2 Category → choose None

Alternatively WordPress checks if there are posts inside of category responsible for a specified section, and if it finds any article it displays that section. If you would like to remove a section, just unassign all posts from the category responsible for that section. If WordPress won’t find any articles, it will just hide it.

Changing Sections Categories

If you haven’t installed our sample content you can easily enable RokMicroNews by changing its Sections assigned category :-

• Login into the WordPress administrator dashboard (http://www.yoursite.com/wp-admin/)
• In the left menu sidebar, go to Posts → Categories and create a new category for your Section 1 and Section 2 posts
• Assign your posts to that categories
• In the left menu sidebar, go to Appearance → SolarSentinel Settings
• Select from the dropdown menu your newly created categories next to the fields Section 1 Category & Section 2 Category
